The new General Data Protection Regulation entered into force in the European Union on 25 May 2018. The purpose of this RGPD is to harmonize the existing regulation on the data protection of individuals within the European Union. The purpose of this regulation is to allow citizens to take control of their multiple data that are available on the Internet, the Intranet or the client file of a company.
Its purpose is also to strengthen data security and to bring into existence the principle of the “right to be forgotten”. Each customer has the right to require that their data be permanently deleted, but also that they are not disseminated or distributed to third parties. Upon request, any person may request that all or part of his data be deleted: surname, first name, e-mail, purchase made or comment posted on a website.
The client may also request that all of his personal data be transmitted to another treatment manager. Companies, independents or organizations face heavy penalties if they do not comply with the rules of the RGPD.
